Rationale and Objectives
Around 13 million Britons visit France every year. They are mostly holiday-makers, home owners or people passing through to another country. A small percentage have enough French to sustain a conversation with a French national.
The vast majority however have only scant memory of the French learned at school and are not therefore able to fully engage with their French counterparts.
BTF is a website dedicated to bringing together English-speaking communities of Members with a common purpose i.e. to improve their ability to communicate in French with reasonable speed and accuracy, in the fastest and most cost-effective way.
Our primary objective is to assist our Members achieve sufficient French language proficiency, in both the pure and colloquial sense, to enable :
- Easier immersion into French culture and society
- Simplification of everyday tasks such as shopping
- Better understanding of French rules/regulations
- Starting a business or buying a house in France
- Starting a UK based business trading with French partners
- Better Comprehension of TV, film, news items etc
The service will be available via multiple platforms e.g. mobile phone, MS Windows etc, and can be connected to regardless of location, thereby enabling Members to use the service wherever they are in the world.
